The Words

Poetry. Stories. Scripts. Grimoires? My love for words accompanied my love for illustration as early as the 5th grade. However, I evaded the title of write for most of my life, until I published Faces, my first collection of short stories with vignette poetry, in 2021. My next collection of stories will be published the summer of 2024. My work has also appeared in The Missing Slate and On The Scene.

Mr. Cream. The bad guy. Mocha chocolate black. Teal diamond teeth. Pressed white Kingpin suit. The kind of villain with an offshore account. Probably a lobbyist. Definitely voted for Trump.

Miracle Man. The “good” guy. Blue eyed, blonde hair, Fascist-Germany Arian-race white. Perfect chompers. Same stainless blue jumpsuit and red MSCHF boots. The kind of “good” guy that everyone calls a god - he never stops them. Probably a centrist. Definitely thinks he’s above the law.

A Burning Man

Man on fire

Not a fireman

But a human torch

A marvelous hero

Secret identy

Bushnell

Burning bush

One commandment

Delivered to all people

“Free Palestine”

The Earth is burning but my rent is due

My neighbor thinks the government should freeze rent and give us monthly checks

I joke that capitalists will never put the needs of people over profit

Neither of us laugh
